Why people look for a Gamma alternative

Gamma is one of the most popular AI presentation tools, and for good reason: it is fast and its documents look good on the web. The reasons people look elsewhere are usually practical:

  • A subscription for an occasional need. Gamma's free tier gives a one-time allowance of 400 AI credits; regular use means a paid monthly or yearly plan. If you build a deck three times a year, you pay for the months in between.
  • Slides rather than a web document. Many audiences — investors, clients, juries — still expect a PowerPoint or PDF attachment.
  • Branding on free exports. Gamma lets free users export to PowerPoint, with a Gamma badge.

If none of these bother you, Gamma remains a great choice. If they do, compare the options below.

Tome has shut down: where Tome users can go

Tome, once a well-known AI storytelling tool, stopped its presentation product around April 2025, and tome.app no longer served its app when we checked on 10 October 2026. If you are searching for a Tome alternative, the same question applies as for Gamma: do you need a web story, or slides you can send?

For slides, Slidy can rebuild a former Tome deck from its text: paste the content of each page into Slidy, choose the number of slides, and export a PowerPoint file.

Slidy vs Gamma: how to choose

Pick Gamma if you publish web documents, share presentations as links, work as a team inside the tool, or build decks every week — a subscription then makes sense.

Pick Slidy if you need a PowerPoint file a few times a year — a pitch deck, a client proposal, a course, a quarterly review — and would rather pay €2.99 for that deck than a monthly plan. You can generate and edit 2 decks every 30 days for free to judge the result first.

Moving a deck from Gamma (or Tome) to Slidy

  1. Copy the text of your existing deck: titles, bullets and key figures. If you exported it as a PDF with selectable text, you can upload that PDF instead.
  2. Paste it into Slidy ("Paste Text") and add one line of context: audience, goal, tone.
  3. Choose the number of slides (5 to 35) and generate.
  4. Review every slide in the browser, check the figures and replace images with your own.
  5. Export the editable .pptx for €2.99 and finish it in PowerPoint, Google Slides or Keynote.

When Slidy is not the right choice

  • You want a free download. Slidy's free tier does not include the .pptx export; Gamma, Canva and Presentations.AI offer exports on their free plans, with limits or branding.
  • You collaborate in real time. Slidy has no team workspace, comments or live co-editing.
  • You publish web pages or interactive documents. Gamma is built for that; Slidy produces slides.
  • You make several decks a week. A subscription will cost less per deck.

A PowerPoint file, not a link

Slidy exports an editable .pptx that opens in PowerPoint, Google Slides or Keynote. Your audience gets a file, not a web page they need to open online.

Pay per export, not per month

Gamma sells subscriptions. Slidy charges €2.99 once per exported deck, or €9.99 for 5 exports. Nothing renews.

Slides first

Slidy produces presentation slides with varied layouts — key figures, comparisons, timelines, image slides — rather than a scrolling document.

Themes matched to the topic

Slidy picks one of 9 themes from your subject: light and sober for consulting, dark for tech, warmer for marketing.

Stop staring at a blank slide.

Frequently asked questions

Is Slidy cheaper than Gamma?+
It depends on how often you make decks. Slidy costs €2.99 per exported deck (or €9.99 for 5) with no subscription. Gamma sells monthly and yearly plans. For a few decks a year, paying per export usually costs less; for several decks a week, a subscription can be cheaper.
Does Gamma export to PowerPoint?+
Yes. According to Gamma's help center (checked 10 October 2026), free users can export to PowerPoint with a Gamma badge. Slidy exports an editable .pptx for €2.99 per deck.
Is Tome still available?+
No. Tome stopped its presentation product around April 2025, and tome.app was unavailable when we checked on 10 October 2026. Slidy can rebuild a former Tome deck from its text.
Can I import my Gamma deck into Slidy?+
Paste its text into Slidy, or upload a PDF export with selectable text. Slidy rebuilds the deck with its own layouts and themes; it does not copy the original design.

Can I use Slidy for decks other than pitch decks?+
Yes. Sales decks, client reports, courses, conference talks and quarterly reviews all work. You choose between 5 and 35 slides.
